Shingo Medallions awarded to Letterkenny Army Depot
The prestigious Shingo Medallion was awarded to Letterkenny Army Depot for the third consecutive year, including its first double award in one year. Ram Tech Inc. is proud to be associated with the Letterkenny Army Depot winning the prestigious Shingo Prize – the “Nobel Prize for Manufacturing” – for three consecutive years: 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Officials from Federal and State Government and Senior Army leaders came to Letterkenny on November 29, 2007 to salute the depot workforce for continuing a three-year tradition of bringing home the prestigious Shingo Medallion. 2007 marked the first time that Letterkenny won two Shingo Medallions.

Ram Tech employees were honored to assist Letterkenny with the win of the Shingo Public Sector Silver Medallion for the second year in a row on the High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) Recapitalization Program. Their efforts assisted in reducing overall HMMWV hours from 274 to 150 per vehicle last year; increasing HMMWV throughput from 1 to 19; and reducing internal HMMWV defects by 87%. This is a monumental savings in the cost of man-hours that are required to support this program.

Letterkenny is designated a Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence (CITE) for Power Generation Equipment (generators). Ram Tech employees were also honored to assist with the win of the Shingo Public Sector Bronze Medallion for rebuilding mobile power generators. Since the opening of the Power Generation Equipment repair facility in May 2004, monthly production has continuously improved. Production began at 100 units and quickly rose to 675 units. Ram Tech employees are ultimately responsible for 50% of the Power Generation Equipment production line, and assisted in saving Letterkenny $263,000 during motor restoration, and almost $3 million dollars in labor.

Ram Tech is proud to be a part of both the Power Generation Equipment Reset Program and the HMMWV Recapitalization Program at Letterkenny Army Depot. The honor of helping Letterkenny win these Shingo awards over the years is testimony to Ram Tech’s ability to provide excellent quality and reliability in the work we do and our firm commitment to helping our client accomplish their primary objectives – to support the war fighter and protect the United States of America.
